The two-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina has past but, there are 4,300 families still living in FEMA trailers in Hancock County, MS. Some of these families are or will receive Mississippi grants in varied amounts to rebuild their homes, but in many cases it will not be enough to hire professional contractors to reconstruct their homes. By using volunteers to assist in their rebuilding, these families will be able to purchase the necessary building supplies to begin or complete the new construction on their homes
Don't forget about Mississippi! Through the generous help of volunteers from around the country this outreach helped over eighty families in rebuilding their lives on the coast. Demolition, debris removal and rehab of the homes remaining after the storm has taken place, Now it is time to set our sights on new construction and helping those still living in FEMA trailers to begin living in a real home again.
So please come on down. Come help us rebuild the communities of Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Clermont Harbor, Lakeshore, and Pearlington, Mississippi where the storm unleashed its rage. Come help us restore hope to families from Our Lady of the Gulf Parish, St. Rose de Lima Parish, St. Clare Parish and St. Ann Parish.
The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has chosen to help in a historic way by adopting these communities. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has committed their prayers, resources and manpower to help rebuild lives and restore hope to this area since March of 2006. Volunteers from all over the country are joining this response.
Thank you in advance for considering how YOU might help.
